We have had many choosy puppies but these three gluttons could have probably munched my leg if I looked away too long.
CLASSIC CERAMIC DOG BOWLS
There are certainly some clear pros of using a classic ceramic bowl for your pup. First, ceramic bowls are microwavable because of the ceramic. Therefore it makes it easy for the dog owner to heat up dog food, making the ceramic bowl very versatile. Secondly, it is often safe to put in the dishwasher, but we recommend that you check that the ceramic bowl glaze does not contain any led and that it is food-graded. The often sturdy design of the ceramic bowls and the overall prices of most ceramic bowls make them a great value product for the money.
Unfortunately ceramic dog bowls can be quite fragile. There is a high risk that they break if dropped. Finally, the sizes of ceramic dog feeding bowls can be on the smaller scale and they are often heavier than other dog bowl types. Because of this you might have to upgrade to a feeding bowl of larger size when your puppy has grown old.
We have a ceramic bowl in the kitchen. We use it as a water bowl!

- Often of beautiful colors and designs
- Microwavable and dishwasher safe
- Sturdy design
- Great value for money
Cons:
- Handle carefully as the ceramic is fragile and easy to break
- Heavier than other bowl types
- Once the puppy grows, you may need to upgrade to a larger bowl

SLOW FEEDER DOG BOWLS
Eating too fast can cause a whole bunch of problems for your dog. Choking, vomiting, food bloat and gastrointestinal discomfort are just a few of the potential hazards that could happen to your dog. Because of this we highly recommend slow feeder bowls for dogs that are too quick to feed.
Pros:
- Could easily triple the doggy’s eating time

Cons:
- May not work for small dogs with long projecting noses as they will still manage to eat extremely fast
- If made out of plastic, the plastic may break be eaten by the dog, causing damage to the dogs digestive system
If you are looking for a great slow feeder bowl, check out this one.
ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT DOG BOWLS
Raised dog bowls or elevated feeding stations for dog bowls are great for helping your dog eat comfortably. Elevated dog bowls minimize back and neck strain for all dogs and we highly recommend all established or new dog owners to read more about raised dog bowls and similar products.
